FIRST EARLIES
Anya
A speciality variety with distinct nutty taste and waxy texture. Very long oval tubers with parti-coloured skins and cream flesh. Will produce high tuber numbers. Tests show susceptibility to late blight on foliage, powdery scab, potato cyst nematode Globodera pallida Pa3/2, 1, potato cyst nematode Globodera rostchiensis Ro1, Potato Virus Yo and Splitting. Resistance to common scab. Parents include Pink Fir and Desiree.
Casablanca ORGANIC
A multi-purpose first early potato with a smooth white skin, shallow eyes and a creamy flesh. 'Casablanca' is a handsome potato, that is rapidly becoming the exhibitors favourite, while chefs are lapping it up because it is a dream to chip, bake or boil. It shows an excellent resistance to blackleg and it has been said that it can produce an edible crop just 8-10 weeks after planting.
Colleen ORGANIC
An early type originating from Ireland. A fairly waxy potato that is tasty, productive and versatile in the kitchen. Some blight resistance.
Duke of York
A long running heritage variety, highly regarded since its establishment in 1891. Duke of York potatoes have yellow flesh and are oval in shape. Once they are boiled the potatoes are dry and mealy, making them an ideal early to boil straight from your garden. Duke of York has good resistance to dry rot. An all-round option, for any type of culinary endeavour!
Maris Bard ORGANIC
Ready to lift early in the season, 'Maris Bard' is a heavy cropping potato, that produces delicious white skinned and white fleshed tubers. Hailed as one of the best and most reliable, it's semi-dry flesh makes it ideal for frying, or boiling as a salad potato.
Orla ORGANIC
Large white tubers of high blight and scab resistance which can be harvested early or left to bulk up. This versatility also extends to the kitchen where potatoes can be used for most cooking methods – from baking and mashing to chips, boiling and roasting.
Swift
An extremely fast maturing, first early variety that produces heavy crops of white-fleshed, firm, smooth baby potatoes that are perfect in salads and at BBQs! ‘Swift’ produces much larger sized tubers than it’s fellow ‘Rocket’ variety, while the plant itself grows with a short bushy habit making it suited for small garden growing, in pots and potato bags.
Ulster Prince
Ulster Prince seed potatoes are a famous first early variety, first listed in 1947 and renowned for their boiling qualities when cooked straight after harvest. Ulster Prince tubers are long and white, with shallow eyes and white flesh. These seed potatoes also have good resistance to common scab and powdery scab, they are also unlikely to disintegrate in the pan when boiling. Excellent drought resistance makes Ulster Prince a very popular potato in Cumbria, Lancashire and the surrounding counties.
SECOND EARLIES
Alouette ORGANIC
A versatile red skinned table variety producing oval long tubers with shallow eyes and yellow flesh colour. It is a rather firm cooking type potato and has consistently scored highly in sensory evaluation analysis. Boasting dual blight resistance, Alouette is suitable for both conventional and organic production.
Charlotte
Charlotte potatoes, acclaimed as the UK's favourite salad potato variety, stand out with their elongated shape, vibrant yellow skins, and firm, waxy yellow flesh. Kestrel
It produces high yields of smooth skinned, cream-coloured potatoes, that boast violet eyes and a delicious flavour. Maris Peer ORGANIC
A second early, with uniform, smaller than average potatoes and a good yield. Flavour is subtle but delicious and ideal for boiling, steaming or roasting whole. They have a light skin, creamy firm flesh which doesn’t disintegrate during cooking. Shows good resistance to Potato scab, bruising, splitting and skin spot.
Purple Rain
Purple Rain contains, as the name suggests, a high content of purple-coloured anthocyanin – known for its positive health aspects. Anthocyanin is in red cabbage, many different types of fruit (blueberries), but potatoes can also be a source of anthocyanin. Purple Rain is suitable for cooking, they can also easily be made into chips or mash.
Purple fleshed and purple skinned variety. Firm cooking long oval ware potato. The taste, presentation and storage characteristics are very good. Therefore this variety can be supplied almost all year around.

Sarpo Una ORGANIC
Sarpo Una is a waxy, delicate flavoured variety that works perfectly as a salad potato hot or cold. When harvested late it makes for a great baker
Skywalker
Skywalker is an exciting new variety bred from parent varieties Casablanca and Victoria. Both of these are known for great flavour, excellent cooking qualities and high disease resistance. Skywalker shows all of these characteristics. It produces high yields of uniform round oval tubers of a good size. It has great all round disease reistance. It can be used for chipping, baking and boiling, and has a tasty flavour.
Wilja
Possibly the most underrated potato in the world! This variety is a fantastically versatile Dutch potato. With a rough yellow skin and a light yellow flesh it has a wholesome, earthy flavour. Perfect for baking, roastingand chipping you can also try them boiled and mashedfor a traditional potato accompaniment to your meal. Try them, you won’t be disappointed!
MAIN CROP
Arran Victory
Bred in the Isle of Arran, and introduced in 1918 to celebrate the ending of World War 1.
Nice oval tubers have vivid blue/purple skin, which is in contrast with their bright white flesh.
Arran Victory is a high yielding, heritage variety. It is floury, very tasty and therefore makes wonderful mash. “Blues” are also a very good variety for baking and roasting.
Bambino
Short oval tuber with white skin and cream flesh, great salad variety. Lovely salad potatoes with a smooth light waxy texture. Great organic variety due to high blight, scab and blackleg resistance.
Blue Danube
Unique blue skin, white flesh Sarpo variety with excellent overall disease resistance. It’s ideal for roasting and chips because of its high dry matter.
This unique member of the Sarpo family sits apart from its brothers and sisters. Blue Danube is an early main crop potato which is truly beautiful to grow in the garden. It has excellent overall disease resistance but unusually for a Sarpo, does not have high resistance to foliage late blight. However it has strong resistance to late blight of the tubers
Cara
Cara is an extremely high yielding Irish variety. These maincrop tubers are oval-round in shape, with smooth skin and a shallow eye. Beautifully coloured white and pink skin. Cara has soft, floury white flesh, therefore is good for baking and chipping.
Cara thrives best on light soils, has good resistance to blight and stores very well.
Desiree
A red skinned, yellow fleshed maincrop, with a slightly waxy texture and excellent flavour.
Desiree produces heavy crops, even in dry seasons. Wonderful for baking and also lovely mashed. Desiree has been a favorite amongst many famous TV chefs, due to their great roasting ability.
Kerr’s Pink
Possibly Ireland’s favourite potato, and one of Scotland’s too – due to its lovely dry and floury nature. Kerr’s Pink tubers are normally short and oval with slightly deep eyes, creamy flesh. They should just be eaten simply cooked in their beautiful pink skins. Kerr’s Pink have good blight resistance and also long-term storage ability. Moderate yields and medium dry matter.
King Edwards
King Edward seed potatoes are probably the most famous potato variety on the market, and for good reason - they have both excellent cooking and taste qualities. Once cooked, King Edward potatoes rarely discolour and offer a broad range of uses. Often copied but never beaten, it's not hard to see why King Edward seed potatoes have been around for a century - a great, solid all-round potato for home growers to enjoy.
Maris Piper
If you walk into a chip shop you will more than likely end up eating some Maris Piper. The UK’s most popular variety, Maris Piper is the choice of the chippies. It is the cooking and frying qualities of Piper that made this potato stand out from the crowd and today it is still grown on a large commercial scale.
The tubers are oval in shape with a white skin and cream coloured flesh. It is also a good long-term storage potato. Maincrop maturity with high yields, many tubers per plant and medium dry matter.
Nicola
Renowned for their distinctive oval shape, Nicola seed potatoes yield golden-skinned tubers with creamy, waxy flesh, excellent for boiling and salads.
Ratte
Ratte Potatoes are small and versatile potatoes with a nutty, earthy flavour and smooth, buttery texture.
Ratte Potatoes are perfect for roasting and pair well with truffle, chicken and smoked fish.
Setanta ORGANIC
Setanta seed potatoes are one of the most blight resistant potato varieties available in the UK, making them a great variety for the allotment grower. Setanta tubers have reasonably smooth, red skins, with yellow flesh, are oval in shape and have shallow eyes. Add excellent scab resistance, combine it with great taste and you've got all the makings of an excellent all-round potato to grow at home.
